Rome & Abruzzo
Discover a seamless journey from Rome’s ancient landmarks to Abruzzo’s wild national parks, with bespoke itineraries, boutique hotels and expert local support throughout.

Iconic History, Untamed Nature
Rome and Abruzzo holidays offer a striking contrast between grandeur and wilderness. In Rome, ancient monuments, Renaissance palaces and lively piazzas create a city layered with history at every turn. Just beyond the capital, Abruzzo unfolds into national parks, mountain villages and Adriatic beaches untouched by mass tourism. Together, they form a journey that balances world-renowned culture with open landscapes and authentic Italian character.
Imperial Landmarks and Apennine Landscapes
Explore Rome’s Colosseum, the Vatican Museums and the Pantheon, then travel east into Abruzzo’s dramatic Apennine mountains. Here, medieval towns perch above valleys, shepherd trails cross high plateaus and wildlife roams protected reserves. The shift from cosmopolitan capital to rural calm feels effortless yet transformative. Rome and Abruzzo holidays suit travellers seeking depth, variety and a true sense of Italy beyond the obvious.

Roman Classics Meet Rustic Traditions
Food reflects the personality of both regions. In Rome, trattorie serve carbonara and cacio e pepe in buzzing neighbourhood squares, while Abruzzo’s cuisine is shaped by mountain traditions and coastal influences. Expect arrosticini, saffron-infused dishes and robust Montepulciano wines. Markets, festivals and family kitchens keep culinary heritage alive. A Rome and Abruzzo holiday offers cultural immersion by day and memorable dining each evening.

Beginning in Milan, this sixteen-day rail journey moves through Italy's most storied cities and coastlines, trading the fashion arcades and gothic grandeur of the Duomo for the pastel harbour fronts of the Ligurian Riviera. Santa Margherita and Portofino offer their particular charm, cobbled and unhurried, before the clifftop villages of Cinque Terre appear along one of the Mediterranean's most dramatic stretches of coast. Florence follows, its Renaissance galleries and terracotta skyline demanding more than a single day, and Rome delivers the ancient city in full, from the Colosseum and the Vatican to the baroque theatre of the Trevi Fountain. Venice brings the journey north again, a city of canals and bridges navigated best on foot or by gondola, and Verona, often passed over for louder destinations, rewards the curious with its Roman amphitheatre, narrow medieval streets and the enduring pull of Shakespeare's most famous setting. The final leg returns to Milan for onward departure.
