Discover the Soul of Sicily

Sicily

From ancient ruins to glittering coastlines, Sicily blends history, culture, and luxury into an unforgettable escape.

Island of Influence

Sicily: A World Within Italy

Sicily holidays reveal an Italy shaped by centuries of Greek, Roman, Arab and Norman influence. In Palermo, mosaics, markets and grand churches sit side by side, while the Valley of the Temples rises above sunlit countryside. In the south-east, Noto and Ragusa glow in baroque splendour. Add seaside promenades, hilltop viewpoints and warm evening passeggiatas, and Sicily becomes a destination you do not just see, you feel. Every day brings a new story, from theatre in Taormina to quiet village squares.

Landscapes of Drama

From Mount Etna to Hidden Mediterranean Coves

Few regions offer contrasts like Sicily. Hike or drive across Mount Etna’s volcanic slopes for sweeping views, then swap black lava rock for the turquoise bays of Cefalù or San Vito Lo Capo. Spend a day sailing to the Aeolian Islands, explore honey-coloured hill towns, or walk nature reserves scented with wild herbs. Add dramatic gorges, vineyard backroads and sunset aperitivi by the sea. Sicily holidays suit multi-centre trips, blending coast, countryside and culture with ease. Almost year-round.

Flavours of the South

Sicily Through Its Food, Wine and Traditions

Cuisine sits at the heart of Sicily holidays. Wander Palermo’s street markets for arancini and cannoli, taste pistachios from Bronte, and discover Etna wines grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil. On the coast, freshly caught seafood is served with views of the Mediterranean, while inland agriturismi celebrate citrus, almonds and olive oil. Add granita, cooking classes and local trattorie. Food here is heritage and hospitality, best enjoyed slowly, between festivals, fishing villages and long summer evenings.

Norman Coastal Jewel

Cefalù

Tucked between a dramatic limestone headland and the Tyrrhenian Sea, Cefalù is one of Sicily's most photogenic towns. Its UNESCO listed Norman cathedral rises above a tangle of medieval lanes, where pastel houses lead down to a long sweep of golden sand. Days here drift between sun warmed beaches, slow lunches of fresh seafood, and aperitivos in the old harbour. Quietly elegant and full of charm, Cefalù offers a relaxed coastal rhythm with genuine Sicilian character at its heart.

SICILY'S BAROQUE MASTERPIECE

Noto

Rebuilt in golden limestone after a devastating earthquake in 1693, Noto is widely considered the finest baroque town in Italy. Its UNESCO listed centre is a procession of ornate palaces, sweeping staircases, and theatrical churches that glow honey gold at sunset. Days are spent wandering elegant streets, sampling almond granita in shaded cafés, and joining the evening passeggiata. Surrounded by countryside, vineyards, and quiet southern beaches, Noto is a romantic, refined base for exploring south east Sicily.

A LAYERED ISLAND CAPITAL

Palermo

Sicily's vibrant capital is a city of beautiful contradictions, where Arab domes, Norman cathedrals, and Byzantine mosaics sit side by side with bustling street markets and crumbling palazzi. Wander the chaotic stalls of Ballarò and Vucciria, marvel at the gilded interiors of the Cappella Palatina, and feast on arancini and panelle from corner stands. Loud, layered, and utterly alive, Palermo offers an unfiltered introduction to Sicilian culture, history, and some of the finest street food in Italy.

BAROQUE HILLTOP DRAMA

Ragusa

Ragusa is really two towns in one, joined by a winding staircase of 300 steps. The upper town is calm and orderly, while Ragusa Ibla, perched on a rocky outcrop, is a maze of baroque churches, tiny piazzas, and stone alleys that glow gold in the evening light. Slow lunches at Michelin starred restaurants, quiet wanderings through medieval streets, and sweeping views across the Iblei hills define a stay here. It is one of the most atmospheric corners of southern Sicily.

WHERE ANTIQUITY MEETS THE SEA

Siracusa

Once one of the most powerful cities of the ancient Greek world, Siracusa today is a layered, romantic place where history is felt at every step. The historic heart sits on the tiny island of Ortigia, all sea washed lanes, sun bleached palazzi, and lively piazzas built around a baroque cathedral that was once a Greek temple. Days drift between the dramatic ruins of Neapolis Archaeological Park, swims off the rocks, and long seafood dinners as the sun sets over the harbour.

GLAMOUR ABOVE THE IONIAN

Taormina

Perched high on a cliff above the Ionian Sea with Mount Etna smouldering in the distance, Taormina has been Sicily's most celebrated resort since the Grand Tour era. The town's ancient Greek theatre offers one of the most spectacular views in Italy, while elegant Corso Umberto is lined with boutiques, cafés, and palm shaded piazzas. Days are spent at chic beach clubs in Isola Bella, with evenings drifting between rooftop bars and refined restaurants. Glamorous, romantic, and timelessly stylish.

BEYOND THE FAMOUS NAMES

Rest of Sicily

Beyond its celebrated towns, Sicily rewards travellers willing to venture further. The volcanic Aeolian Islands rise dramatically from the Tyrrhenian, offering windswept beaches and bubbling thermal waters. Inland, the slopes of Mount Etna are dotted with vineyards and walking trails, while ancient Agrigento holds some of the finest Greek temples outside Greece. To the south, quiet beaches and sleepy fishing villages reveal a more authentic island, far removed from the well worn tourist trail.
