Puglia, a popular region for charming Trulli houses, fine Baroque architecture & beautiful coastline, is now making itsí mark on gastronomy holidays with a recent introduction of small boutique farmhouses and family run wine cellars offering unique opportunities to taste real flavours of the region with simple but tasty recipes that have been passed from one generation to the next!
With this holiday, we will be offering you the chance to learn about rustic Italian cooking in a typical farmhouse from a local cook, enjoy the flavours of your cooking accompanied with tasty local wine, a small walking tour in Conversano, a medieval town where your hotel is located, and a horse and carriage countryside tour along with your delicious four course tasting menu welcome dinner at your hotel.

Day 1
Arrive at Bari Airport and meet you driver who will transfer you to Relais Corte Altavilla for your three nights stay. Check-In and enjoy your aperitif. Depending on the arrival time of your flight you will then have free time to relax and enjoy your welcome dinner at the hotelís rooftop restaurant Terrazzo Goffredo, a four-course tasting menu (you can choose fish, meat or vegetarian menu) excluding beverages which will be payable locally to the hotel.
Day 2
Orientation meeting with hotel front office about the region followed by a two-hour walking tour of the town of Conversano to help familiarise yourself with the surroundings of Relais Corte Altavilla as it is located in the historic quarter within walking distance to the Castle, Cathedral and many other historic buildings. Free time at your leisure in the afternoon.
15.00: Meet at the hotel reception for your transfer to Masseria where you will experience rustic Italian cooking with the help of a traditional cook. The course has a real hands-on approach in preparing succulent and authentic recipes made with simple flavours which are typical of Mediterranean cuisine. They will capture and fascinate you with recipes kept in precious cookbooks written by the ladies of the family, who perceived the influence of the southern Kingdom of Naples since the late 1800 ís. Puglia is the region where extra virgin olive oil was and still is the sublime masterpiece of all meals, and where wine was and is the elixir of life. During your cookery course, you will explore the gorgeous heritage of Pugliaís wines. Your cooking class will be followed by dinner, enjoying the dishes you have cooked with matching local wine and the company of your charming hosts. Following this transfer back to your hotel.
Day 3
Morning at your leisure. 2pm pick up from your hotel for your horse & carriage tour in the countryside which will last approximately one hour. Depending on the weather and seasonality we may from time to time alter the activity or the day of this tour. More information will be given at the time of your booking. 4.30pm complimentary Use of the Spa for two for 90 min excluding treatments. You can add massage or any other treatment of your choice which you can pay for additionally to the hotel locally. 7pm wine tasting session with a Sommelier at the hotel. You will be tasting three different regional wines from white wine, rose & red wine. It will take about 60 - 90 minutes and you will be served olives and taralli, a savory snack specialty of this region during the tasting. Dinner at your leisure. There are a number of very good restaurants within walking distance to the hotel to choose from as well as typical trattorias where you can experiment local cuisine in beautiful surroundings. We will be happy to make suggestions and book these for you in advance as well as hotel staff whom will be delighted to do this for you locally.
Day 4
Depending on the departure time of your flight, transfer to the airport.

Flights are based on travel from London Airports, and given as guidance only. An up-to-date price will be given to you at the time of your enquiry. A supplement may apply to some departures depending on the price of the flights on the chosen date.
